Anthony Donald DiFilippo died at the age of 36 on Tuesday, Mar. 1 while visiting his family.

DiFilippo was born in Baltimore and worked as an Emergency Medical Technician at Cove City EMS in Craven County, North Carolina, according to his obituary. He was big into sports and especially loved the Washington Capitals.

“During his time with Cove City, Anthony greatly impacted the lives of so many, his mother MaryJo said on a GoFundMe campaign.

“From fellow first responders, peers, the community of Craven County, his course instructor Valerie Stephens, and his Chief, mentor, and friend Brian Mullins, Anthony felt beyond blessed by all those that came into his life......even down to the Station's postman!”

The GoFundMe is intended to raise funds to create a Memorial Seating Area in DiFilippo's honor outside of the Rescue 32 Station.

“Anthony had just said to Chief Brian, that the station needed a bench outside, as he enjoyed being outdoors and looking at the stars,” his mother MaryJo said. “He would often tell me how happy he was to be part of the Cove City EMS family, which he undoubtedly called ‘home.’”

Family and friends of DiFilippo are invited to gather at Stauffer Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Mar. 14. A celebration of life will follow at 6:30 p.m.
